AVON LAKE UCC

Avon Lake United Church of Christ is the oldest church in Avon Lake. It was founded in 1896 and called the Avon Lake Methodist Episcopal Church. It became the First Congregational Church of Avon Lake in 1926 and the Avon Lake United Church of Christ in 1967. The present building on Electric Blvd. was dedicated in 1956 with additions in 1961 and 1976. The sanctuary was renovated in 1998. In 2005 a new sanctuary will be dedicated, with a seating capacity of 400, double the previous size.

Wayne joined ALUCC on March 2, 1986. He has served the church in many ways including:

TV Committee
Board of Membership
Board of Missions
Given children's time messages
Part of Men's group
Part of Men's prayer group
Helped with youth activities
Helped with Casual Sundays
Helped with numerous computer projects
Helped with publicity for the capital campaign

Currently he is a big supporter of the Casual Sundays service, he is on the TV committee and works in the TV room, he gives children's time messages and he is famous for his delivery of the food drive announcements (he always has props!).
