JERRY DAVIS How did you meet Wayne? I met Wayne when I started working at U.S. Graphite in 1968. What is your favorite memory of Wayne? My favorite memory of Wayne is him pushing his Alfa Romeo around the parking lot at USG to get it started. He once called to get a price on tires for his car and had a 35 minute conversation with the person who answered the phone. What’s the funniest thing you ever saw Wayne do? He picked up the flywheel/shaft for the VW Bug he was working on in his Dad’s garage to show it to me. He then dropped it on the floor and broke it in two. Then he told “John Hartford” that he didn’t know how the hell it got broken. What’s the nicest thing Wayne ever did for you? When I started at USG working with Wayne, he made me feel like I had known him for my entire life from the first day. If you saw Wayne today, what would be the first thing you would say to him? F1 still sucks ... NASCAR rules! Do it for Walter - Red Ol’ Boy. Describe Wayne in 5 words or less: Friendly, outgoing, compassionate, a little wacky. When I think of Wayne ... I smile. Wayne is my friend because ... all of the above. I’ve always wondered if Wayne ... talks in his sleep. I wish I had told Wayne ... not to move to Texas. My birthday wish for Wayne is ... many, many more.

What’s the funniest thing you ever saw Wayne do? Jump away from my mom's little Chihuahua, Bubbles. She always nipped at his ankles and he always threatened to drop kick her. What’s the nicest thing Wayne ever did for you? He stuck up for me. If you saw Wayne today, what would be the first thing you would say to him? You are still the Wayne I remember. Your voice hasn't changed a bit. A little older and wiser maybe. Describe Wayne in 5 words or less: Outgoing, fun loving, loyal. When I think of Wayne ... Wayne was a salesman. He could sell a ‘49 Ford to someone looking for a new vehicle. Wayne was my friend because ... I was Don's girlfriend and we came as a package deal. I’ve always wondered if Wayne ... ever regretted any of his wild schemes/ventures. I wish I had told Wayne ... that I admired his upbeat, positive attitude.
