JOANNE KAROW

What is your favorite memory of Wayne? After a lifetime of memories of Wayne, it's hard to pick a favorite. One memory that seems to come back to me is when we were kids and at the cottage, he was painting something blue. I guess he was a bit sloppy and had his hand covered in bright blue paint. He leaned up against a White Birch tree and left a distinct blue hand print that lasted for years.

What’s the funniest thing you ever saw Wayne do? The funniest thing I see Wayne doing all of the time is losing his keys. If he could just keep track of them he could have a lot of free time!

What’s the nicest thing Wayne ever did for you? He didn't exactly do it for me but it affected me. It happened over the summer when our father was ill. Dad needed around the clock help and Wayne made the long trip from Cleveland to Saginaw, every weekend, to do his part in staying with Dad. Without Wayne’s help, Dad may not have been able to spend his last summer in his own home.

If you saw Wayne today, what would be the first thing you would say to him? It's something our reserved family doesn't often say, I guess because we are sure of our feelings. In case you are not sure Wayne, I love you.

Describe Wayne in 5 words or less: Energetic, loyal, impulsive, loving and funny.

When I think of Wayne ... I'm glad I have such a good "big brother."

Wayne is my friend because ... if you ask him for anything he'll do his best to help you out.

I’ve always wondered if Wayne ... would ever grow up or stay the fun loving "jokester" that he always has been.

I wish I had told Wayne ... that I think it is great that he is using Dad's tools to continue the craft of lapidary and faceting.

My birthday wish for Wayne is ... that you continue to enjoy life and keep living life in the "happy go lucky" way you always have. You wouldn't be "Wayne" without that style!
